Vacancy:  Senior Consultant / Project Manager

Duration: One Year (with the possibility of extension)

 

Summary of Position

The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for supporting the Peace and Stabilization Project Director (PD) in his/her duties of assuring that the portfolio of projects goals, objectives, deliverables, targets, and indicators are attained in a timely manner in accordance with the contract terms and is responsible for managing some project operations. The PM will facilitate communications between the management, project team, local coordinators, and local and international partners and will assist the PD in reporting, scheduling, and activity oversight. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

Responsibilities

  1. Develop project plans and project management deliverables;

  2. Track project activities against work plans and activity action plans, including assessment planning, scoping, implementation, reporting and activity development and management;

  3. Monitor the timely completion of project deliverables and help PD ensure that project deliverables are presented to the partners/donors in a professional manner;

  4. Maintain a detailed calendar of project activities, including travel, team member assignments, and document due dates (including project deliverables in accordance with terms of the contract);

  5. Ensure regular communications between members of the project team, including regular and ad hoc meetings;

  6. Organize and participate in weekly Management and Planning team meetings;

  7. Serve as liaison with partners/donors on non-technical matters (e.g., submitting deliverables)

  8. Supervise project team, including goals, activity planning, activities, and performance, with input from the PD as needed;

  9. Oversee Project Officers’ organization of events, workshops, and meetings;

  10. Assist in the preparation of project deliverables, primarily in the development of outlines and instructions for writers and reviewing and improving drafts;

  11. Track subcontractors’ activities and deliverables;

  12. As requested by the PD, represent DeepRoot in meetings, public forums, and to local counterparts, vendors, and other project partners and stakeholders;

  13. Participate in the development of project activities, including activity selection and work planning; and

  14. Lead the development of project Quarterly Progress Reports four times annually;

 

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree required in political science, public administration, public policy, conflict and peace studies, project management or any related field; Master’s degree preferred;

  2. Minimum 5 years of project management experience, preferably in peacebuilding, stabilization, public policy, and governance, or a related field;

  3. Prior experience working with international organizations or donors preferred;

  4. Strong organizational and administration skills

  5. Excellent oral & written communication skills in both Arabic and English;

  6. Experience working with various cultures and attitudes

  7. Strong interest in working in international development

  8. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of the team;
