Vacancy: Project Officer

Duration: One Year (with the possibility of extension)

Summary of Position

The Project Officer works under the supervision of the Project Manager and in close collaboration with other project team members, particularly the project assistant(s) and project experts. S/he cultivates contacts with the project stakeholders and partners at the working level. ​ Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:


  1. Assist the Project Manager in the preparation of terms of reference for specific project interventions;

  2. Support in planning, designing, and delivering project activities;

  3. Liaise with stakeholders such as project consultants, beneficiary institutions, donors, and other partners as regards the implementation of project activities as well as using the online training platform;

  4. Organize and participate in project meetings and events, and undertake follow-up action as required, including writing reports;

  5. Contribute to raising the visibility of the project by disseminating information to those concerned and ensuring adequate information flow within the project stakeholders and relevant partners and experts;

  6. Undertake, upon assignment, missions to the project regions in support of project activities;

  7. Ensure short-term contracts are managed in accordance with their terms of reference;

  8. Monitor activity and budget implementation;

  9. Develop and maintain a sound network of government and other stakeholder counterparts;

  10. Actively contribute to engagement area reporting systems;

  11. Undertake a record-keeping system and ensure it is in line with the project’s record management guidelines; and

  12. Undertake various administrative duties and tasks that may reflect substantial variety and complexity.



  1. Bachelor’s degree required in Business Management/Administration, Project Management, Public Management/Administration, or an equivalent field.  

  2. Prior experience working with international organizations or donors is preferred.

  3. A minimum of two years of project coordination or management experience is required;

  4. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of the team;

  5. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with partners, donors, and other relevant stakeholders and personnel associated with this project;

  6. Fluent English; additional language preferred;

  7. Excellent oral and written communication skills in both Arabic and English;

  8. Highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to handle multiple project activities at once.
