The Josoor aims to enhance social cohesion at the community level by taking a multifaceted approach that links interpersonal stability at the local level with institutional resilience at the national level. It seeks to encourage positive interactions between communities by increasing their understanding of shared values and recognising destructive experiences of local conflict. Critical to ensuring sustainability of local conflict resolution mechanisms and reductions in intercommunal tensions is creating opportunities for repeated positive interactions that challenge misperceptions and bring about attitudinal and behavioural change.
